The MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR), Cambridge University Energy Policy Research Group and ORLEN are pleased to invite you to the conference “Powering Europe’s Future: Navigating a Sustainable Energy Transition with Security and Affordability”. 

The conference will take place on Monday and Tuesday, June 23-24, 2025 in Warsaw

The conference convenes academics, policymakers and industry participants to discuss the implications of recent research results regarding energy transition in Europe, as well as factors that will influence the energy and environmental policy agenda in Europe in the years to come. Each session comprises presentations of recent research results, followed by an open discussion with all participants.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce a call for essays for young researchers.

The task in the competition is to write an essay of up to 3000 words on the following topic:  "Overcoming Obstacles – A Critical Analysis of Barriers to Fast Energy Transition".

The competition encourages critical engagement with key conference themes: energy security, decarbonizing heating, nuclear energy, climate and trade, and a just transition.

The authors of the best essays  will be invited to attend the June conference in Warsaw, featuring presentations from leading academics representing top American and European universities. The invitation also includes an exclusive dinner with distinguished speakers and participants, offering valuable networking within the energy sector.

  • 1st Place: 3000 PLN + Leadership Meeting with ORLEN Board Member + Visit on ORLEN Asset (e.g. Płock Refinery)
  • 2nd Place: 2000 PLN + Visit on ORLEN Asset 
  • 3rd Place: 1000 PLN + Visit on ORLEN Asset
